Megami Magazine Vol. 143

April 30, 2012 By: Nopy Category: Megami Magazine

Today we have volume 143 (April 2012) of Megami Magazine, just before the end of the month. The cover this time around features Shinobu from Nisemonogatari eating one of those weird donuts that looks like it’s wrapped in something.

The ecchi level is high in this volume so some of you will probably want to pass on getting this one (or get your wallets out *wink*). As usual, any objectionable (ecchi) images are hidden in the links rather than shown directly on the page in order to protect those visiting from public places from embarrassment.

Anime Screenshots 3

April 16, 2012 By: Nopy Category: Anime

Since I abandoned the anime screenshots project a few years ago, I’ve received several comments from people wanting it back. After much deliberation (amongst me, myself, and I of course), I’ve decided to start it up again to see how it goes. This time instead of weekly posts, it will be seasonal, covering some of the more interesting screenshots of the past few months. For those new to the Anime Screenshots column, it’s basically a collection of screenshots that I took while watching anime that I felt were worthy of sharing, as you can see below.

Screenshot 1:

Anime: Ano Natsu de Matteru
Episode: 3
Comments: Has anyone else noticed Japan’s odd fascination with Tommy Lee Jones?

Megami Magazine Vol. 142

March 26, 2012 By: Nopy Category: Megami Magazine

Hello everyone, here is Megami Magazine volume 142 (March 2012), the last post I will be making on my blog…

until I write the GMAT of course. I am falling behind on my study schedule so I will be going into hermit mode for the next few weeks, but I will return by mid-April.

This volume once again features Idolmaster on the front cover, though the series is nowhere near as prominent as Nanoha. There were surprisingly fewer pin-up posters in this volume, which you can check out below. For newcomers, links to images are ecchi and may be assumed to be NSFW.

Megami Magazine Vol. 141

February 07, 2012 By: Nopy Category: Megami Magazine

Volume 141 (February 2012) of Megami Magazine once again features Nanoha and Fate from Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha. The cast of Nanoha has been absent from the last few volumes, but with the second movie coming out this summer, we’ll probably be seeing a lot more of them soon. This volume contains a few goodies, but first lets take a look at the pin-up posters. Ones with more racy images are hidden in the links, so click at your own discretion.

Winter 2012 Anime Round-up

February 04, 2012 By: Nopy Category: Anime

Now that all of the new series this season have aired, it’s time to go over my thoughts on each one and decide what to watch. I have seen at least one episode of every series listed below, but most of them have gotten 2 or 3 episode views before I came to my decision. I have excluded sequels of series that I have not seen since I would not be able to follow what is going on.

The Power of Music – Effects on Anime Popularity

January 27, 2012 By: Nopy Category: Anime, Random Wonderings

It’s hard to deny that anime has good music compared to other animation. For example, I don’t think a song from Spongbob Squarepants or Ben 10 would ever make it onto the Billboard Charts, but you often hear of anime music reaching the top 10 on Japan’s equivalent Oricon Charts. With music oriented anime like K-ON! achieving huge success, that got me thinking: does music affect the popularity and success of an anime, or conversely, does an anime affect the popularity and success of a song?

In a recent post, I listed 10 anime series with good music that made it onto the Oricon Charts. Most of these series were very popular when they aired, but it’s hard to determine if that was soley because of the music or if the anime was already good. Ideally, to figure this out, we would need to put a crappy anime on the market with good music and a good anime with bad music, then watch the Oricon charts. Unfortunately, I don’t know any pop stars or anime studios that would help me, so I’m settling for the next best thing: watching Senki Zesshou Symphogear.
