This month has been one of the busiest in my life with having to put in overtime hours, participate in competitions, and catching up with volunteer work. In that time I’ve come to realize how dedicated to anime I am. Despite all of the work I still managed to preview all of the new anime this season and compile my thoughts on them with a rundown of the best and worst anime.
With a new year comes a new season and a new batch of anime. After viewing all of the new anime this season, I have compiled all of my initial thoughts into this post. As with all of my round-ups, I take into consideration every new series and continuations of series that I have seen. Sequels of anime that I haven’t seen are excluded because I would just be completely lost.
It’s summer and that means beaches, sunshine, and another anime round-up. This comes rather late since I’ve been very these past few months, but at least that means I can preview more episodes and make better decisions. I wasn’t expecting much from this season, but after catching all of the series, there seem to be a few jewels out there, lets take a look through them:
Now that all of the new anime for the spring season have aired, it’s time for my seasonal round-up of the best and worst. To those of you new to my seasonal posts, I preview every new anime (excluding some sequels and spin-offs) and share my thoughts on them. I also indicate which series I thought were worth continuing and which weren’t. At the end I pick three anime – the best of the season, the worst of the season, and the most under-rated. Naturally, my opinions are all heavily biased.
I would’ve watched this series for Kuroyukihime alone. She’s pretty and looks cool in her black dress and butterfly wings. The world that the anime is set in has me interested too, who wouldn’t want to be able to connect to the internet using their brain? The story follows a typical shounen plot, but that’s OK.
Now that all of the new series this season have aired, it’s time to go over my thoughts on each one and decide what to watch. I have seen at least one episode of every series listed below, but most of them have gotten 2 or 3 episode views before I came to my decision. I have excluded sequels of series that I have not seen since I would not be able to follow what is going on.
It’s time for another round-up of the season’s anime. I know I’m a month late to the party, but I attribute that to travelling for 3 weeks and spending 2 weeks catching up on everything. I won’t bore you with the plot summaries, you can find them anywhere, these are just my impressions of the series for Fall 2011 and whether I consider them worth watching or not. If you are new to my blog, note that I don’t include sequels/continuations as I would be watching a story starting in the middle. Seasonal awards will be given out at the end of this post.
After a couple of weeks, I’ve finally managed to watch at least the first episode (most of the second as well) of all of the new anime airing this summer. The ones I did not watch are either continuations of a previous season, OVAs, or movies.
I must say that I was impressed with the line-up of titles this time around compared to the last couple of years, but as always, there’s only enough time to watch a few select series. Below you will find my initial thoughts on each one and whether I will be following it or not.
It seems like ages since I’ve done a real post, but part of the reason was that after I had gotten all my IRL stuff sorted out, I had a huge backlog of anime and unread emails/articles. I’m happy to say that now that backlog has been diminished to something more manageable, I can get back to blogging again. I think I’ve seen the first episode or more of every series (minus sequels) airing this season, so here are my thoughts on all of them.
It’s been two weeks into the new anime season, and that means it’s time to head to the chopping board. I’m fairly certain that I’ve seen all of the major new anime airing this season and have now decided on which ones to keep watching and which ones to drop. Here are my thoughts based on the first or first two episodes of each series.
A naked baby that electrocutes everyone around him when he cries, and is raised by a high school delinquent sounds like a wild and crazy idea that would make a great anime. Unfortunately, Beelzebub just didn’t have what it takes to impress me. By the end of the first episode it seemed like the anime was trying to follow something along the lines of teen parenthood, but I just couldn’t take it seriously.
I hope everyone in Canada enjoyed Thanksgiving today. I spent most of the day studying and I don’t think I can memorize any more so here I am writing a blog post. Somehow I’ve managed to keep up with the new series airing this season and I think I’ve seen the first episode of everything that isn’t a sequel. Now it’s time to decide which series to follow and which ones will get the axe.
Thoughts: I’ve heard a lot of good things about the Bakuman manga, but the first episode of the anime failed to impress me. The animation wasn’t great, and it was only mildly funny. I do realize that this is supposed to be one of those growing up or coming-of-age stories so it might take a while for the plot to really take off.
Status: Will watch a few more episodes.
