Megami Magazine Vol. 18

November 01, 2011 By: Nopy Category: Megami Magazine

The second-oldest Megami Magazine volume that I own is volume 18, published exactly 10 years ago on November 1, 2001. As with the oldest Megami Magazine I own, I bought this one simply for the cover, which features my two favourite characters from Denshin Mamotte Shugogatten: Shao and Kiryuu. I always like looking back on series that I have enjoyed and going through a Megami Magazine from 10 years ago is a good way of doing that. Note that I’ve censored any nudity, but ecchi (NSFW) images are still hidden in the links.

Megami Magazine Vol. 11

April 01, 2011 By: Nopy Category: Megami Magazine

Yes, you read the title right, and no, this is not an April Fool’s joke. Do I have something special for you guys, I have here volume 11 of Megami Magazine, which was released 10 years ago on April 1, 2001. Its been over a month since I started the History With Anime project, so I thought it was about time for another trip down memory lane. The thing I love about Megami is that it not only provides excellent artwork, it also acts as a record of the anime and games that were popular in the past.

As for why I decided to get this particular volume, you just have to look at the cover. Love Hina was the must-see anime for any teenage boy way back when. If you’re a guy and you went through your teenage years without seeing a single episode of Love Hina, then I feel sorry for you.

The magazine itself still has that Megami feel that the modern day volumes have, but there are some notable differences. First though, lets take a run through the posters. I’ve introduced the characters and anime/game for each poster because I know some of you probably won’t recognize any of them.

Mamotte Shugogetten Vol. 2

August 14, 2008 By: Nopy Category: Other Stuff

I went to the bookstore today to pick up Mamotte Shugogetten vol. 2 ^.^ This volume was actually released on Aug. 5, but the bookstore didn’t get it in until today. The store only has 2 bookshelves for manga and since Mamotte Shugogetten is twice as thick as regular manga, it wasn’t hard to find. When I went to checkout though, the guy at the counter gave me a funny look. I guess the reason for that was because of the cover of the book. I thought that a cute girl in a red dress wouldn’t make it look like I was buying a pinkish-violet book but people probably wouldn’t pay that much attention to what’s drawn on the cover, just the overall colour of it. But anyways, if you’re a fan of light comedy and magic, then you should definately read this series. It’s about a guy named Tasuke who comes into possession of a ring called the shitenrin, which is actually the home of Shugogetten Shaorin (aka Shao), a goddess whose duty is to protect her master. Some hilarious events ensue, including the arrival of another goddess and Tasuke’s school getting demolished XD. I haven’t read the second volume yet, but here’s the summary on the back cover:
