Nyantype Magazine Vol. 4

It’s been a week since I went missing, but I’m back. I had a ton of work to get done so I didn’t have any time to post anything on my blog and only managed a few tweets here and there. Now that everything is done though, it’s time to get back to going through my backlog of magazines. First up is volume 4 of Nyantype Magazine which came out before Christmas. On the cover is the cute angel Icarus from Sora no Otoshimono. You’d think that angels would have more clothing, but I guess they don’t have a dress code where Icarus is from.

We’ve already seen posters of Haruhi and Mikuru in the previous volumes and now it’s time for Yuki fans to rejoice with this sweet poster.

On the reverse side is a Sora no Otoshimono poster. This one looks like it was meant for a dakimakura. Maybe someone will actually make one.

Is it just me or does Kurimu’s leg seem a bit weird? Oh well, I really like Minatsu’s gold anklets and arm band.

I’ve seen a lot of striped pantsu in anime, but I’m pretty sure that this is my first time seeing a striped bra. It’s even in the usual white and blue.

I like cat ears and the tail, but the big paw gloves just look weird to me.

I bet Strike Witches fans would like to have this image printed on a bed sheet rather than on a poster.

I really liked this Love Plus poster. It really has that Christmas feel with the presents, the tree in the background, and how the edges fade to white.

11eyes looked really cool at first, but then it started to look more and more like a fanservice anime. From the looks of this poster, I’m guessing every time the girls got into a fight they’d get some clothes torn off.

Then again, I don’t think anything can have more fanservice than Queen’s Blade.

This poster was cute, Mio and Azusa in santa outfits. That big strawberry in the middle is kinda weird though, makes me wonder why they put it in.

I’m really curious as to how Kanu lost all of her clothing.

This poster reminds me that I still have to finish watching the second season of Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu.

I’m really disappointed at the way railgun has turned out. Very few of the episodes had anything to do with the plot, including the beach episode that this poster was based on.

I was a bit surprised to see this Princess Lover poster in here, but then I remembered that this was from before Christmas.

The same goes for this Sacred Blacksmith poster.

More Christmas themed posters. I wish it was Christmas again, I had nothing to worry about back then.

And since the railgun poster wasn’t enough, here’s another obligatory beach/swimsuit poster for your enjoyment.

For anyone that missed it, Kanon is now on Blu-Ray and it looks AWESOME. I think every Kanon fan should get it even if there aren’t any subtitles. After all, a true fan would have memorized all the lines already :P

There was a little Seitokai no Ichizon feature in the magazine that included the characters wearing a bunch of different types of clothing. I thought Kurimu in the red dress with the two pistols was really cute, she’s so small but she’s trying to act so mature.

I had considered watching Omamori Himari when it came out, but I figured that I’d seen enough harem anime to last me a few years and watching more would just get really boring.

A bunch of upcoming (as of December) figures are showcased here. I got my Nanoha nendoroid a couple of days ago so you guys can expect a review sometime next week.

This volume also came with a free Weib Schawrz card. I tend to keep them in the pouches attached to the magazine so I don’t lose them.

On the back of the magazine is an advertisement for Chu-Bra, which in my opinion was a failure of an anime. Anime producers seriously need to come up with better ideas.

One of the extras that came with this magazine was this Love Plus Christmas card. I bet a lot of Love Plus fans would enjoy receiving one of these.

The other extra was this Nanoha Force pencil board.

Personally I liked this side better than the first side. It’s too bad that they put Fate off on the side there.

Overall, I’d say that this was an average volume of Nyantype. Except for the Love Plus poster and the poster of Yuki at the beginning, nothing else really stood out. If Nyantype could obtain more posters like those, they might become more popular than Megami one day.

Dengeki G’s Magazine 2010-01

The January 2010 issue of Dengeki G’s magazine features Manaka from Love Plus on the cover. I’m sure most of you have probably heard of this wildly popular dating sim on the NDS which allows you to interact and deepen your bond between one of three girls in the game. Apparently it’s so good that a guy in Japan even went ahead and married one of the girls in the game (but not officially/legally). Personally, I’d prefer a real wife, but to each his own.

It looks like each issue of Dengeki G’s is featuring one girl from Marriage Royale. This time the girl is Daiba Minato, whose name comes from Odaiba island and Minato ward which are both in Tokyo, her hometown. I think she looks really nice in that pink coat, and her hat looks so soft and fluffy, plus I like her pink ribbon; a really cute character overall.

Don’t forget that Angel Beats will begin airing this spring ^.^

I thought this page was beautiful, all the Da Capo II characters underneath a Cherry Blossom tree. I still haven’t gotten around to finishing the first Da Capo game.

Tenshin Ranman Happy Go Lucky looks like something that I’d like. The character designs are pretty, and there’s a girl dressed as a miko in there (and I love miko). The opening for the game is also cute, there’s even a little dance in there:

It looks like there’s going to be even more Fate games. Archer looks pretty sweet in that new outfit, too bad Rin didn’t get some new clothes as well.

I wish someone would translate Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni Kizuna into English. Grown up Hanyuu looks really cool, especially with that sword of hers.

Suzunoe Seven ~Rebirth Knot~ seems to focus on a guy attending a magic school where he meets a bunch of girls (which is obvious of any game in here). I don’t really know anything about the game other than that. On the left page is a game called Akatsuki no Amaneka to Aoi Kyojin which will be coming out on the XBOX 360 and PSP this March. I’m not very fond of the artwork, but the game itself is an rpg rather than a visual novel, so it might be fun to try out.

I first found out about Koi to Senkyo to Cholocate from the previous month’s Dengeki G’s, and it looks like it’s back in here again. There was a nice little section about the game and the characters, too bad I can’t read any of it.

Manaka de Iku no is a fandisc by Leaf featuring characters from some of their eroge. It looks pretty interesting, I’m thinking of getting it just for the lol factor. Imagine seeing the To Heart 2 girls fighting monsters RPG style. You can see what the game is like here:

I considered getting that Nanoha figure on the bottom right, but considering I just spent a load of cash on the Nanoha Exceed Mode figure by Alter, I don’t think I’ll be getting any more for a while.

As usual, I got another free Chaos TCG card. Not sure who she is.

On the back of the magazine is an ad for the Higurashi fighting game on the PSP. It looks pretty cool, but unfortunately, I don’t have a PSP to play it with :(

This issue of Dengeki G’s didn’t come with a free figure, but it did have two nice posters.

If you look closely, you might be able to see the difference between these posters and regular posters. These ones are meant to be stuck onto the wall of your shower, I guess that’s why both girls are wearing swimsuits.

Dengeki G’s Magazine 2009-10

There were a couple of nice goodies that came along with the October 2009 edition of Dengeki G’s Magazine. I got a new Konomi figure and a little Love Plus booklet, but first lets take a look at some of the things featured in the magazine.

At the front of the magazine was some info on the Japan Illustrator’s Festival, which I believe takes place twice a year. If I had the oppurtunity to go, I’d be there in a heartbeat, some of the artwork there is simply gorgeous. I especially like Tinkle’s artwork; the image on the top left of the page was done by Tinkle.

It looks like the figure of Konomi that came with this magazine has another version which is cast-offable. It’s too bad they didn’t include that one along with the apron one.

Is anyone else excited about the upcoming Angel Beats anime? By my count, this will be the 3rd series that Key has gotten animated (the first three being Kanon, AIR, and Clannad). It’s too bad they didn’t decide to animate all of their games though. I would’ve liked to see a Little Busters anime or at least a Planetarian movie. Hopefully an anime will be made for Rewrite too after the game is completed.

This is the first time I’ve come across the title Sora wo Tobu, Nanatsu Me no Mahou. From what I can tell, it’s a sequel to Sora wo Tobu, Mittsu Me no Mahou which was a sequel to True Tears. That’s actually what the “true tears” above the title is referring to. I’ve never watched/played True Tears or its sequel so I don’t know if the series is any good. What’s got me interested though is the image on the top left of the right page. It reminds me a lot of Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha. I might watch the True Tears anime if it’s anything like Nanoha.

Here are some game images and details on upcoming Steins;Gate. Personally, I don’t really like what they’ve done with the hair of the main characters. I’d much rather have characters like in Chaos;Head with hair that was more anime-like.

A new Higurashi game came out for the PSP on November 26. It’s a sort of fighting game where you get to run around a large battlefield and fight two enemies along with a partner. It’s kinda cute to see what kind of weapons each of the characters has.

Fairy Life: Miracle Days for the PSP has some nice character designs, but it looks like a generic dating sim. I guess it’s nice for people who aren’t able to use their computers for a while.

Like I said before in a previous post, I really want to play SHUFFLE Essence+. Some people don’t like how Aoi Nishimata makes all of her characters with the same face, but I think she should keep doing what she’s doing. All of her characters are so cute so I don’t have a problem with it.

eden* is the newest game by Minori, the company that created the ef series and Wind ~A Breath of Heart~. Considering how beautiful Wind and ef were, I was expecting eden* to be very visually appealing, and I was not disappointed (at least not with the demo movie). You can take a look at some of the amazing art Minori has made for eden* here. I really hope it gets made into an anime like Wind and ef were.

Dengeki G’s has a small section where it shows some figures that are about to be released. I got myself a Hanyuu figure a couple months ago :)

As usual, the magazine comes with a free playing card. This time it’s of Riannon from Tears to Tiara. At first I thought she had a moustache, but upon closer inspection, she’s actually just holding a cookie in her mouth.

The back of the magazine features a Sekirei ad.

Like I said earlier, the magazine came with a couple goodies and here they are.

The first is a Love Plus booklet containing images and info on the three girls. In case you’re out of the loop, Love Plus is a hit dating sim that came out on the DS several months ago.

My favourite character is Manaka Takane, the one featured on the front of the booklet.

The other two get relegated to the back :P

The second little goodie that came with the magazine was this figure of Konomi from To Heart 2. It’s really similar to the figure that came with the previous month’s edition, being naked and all except for a single apron covering the front. The quality isn’t that great, but it’s cute nonetheless.
