Dengeki G’s Festival! Vol. 18

Some of you may have been wondering what the box at the corner of my desk in this post was. Well, to answer your questions, here’s a close-up look at it: Dengeki G’s Festival! vol. 18. As with all of the Festival! volumes, this one comes with a short book and a box with some special items.

Volume 18 is focused on the eroge Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate, otherwise known as Love, Election & Chocolate. I first found out about this game when I saw it in an issue of Dengeki G’s Magazine last year and I just loved the character designs and artwork, which was why I bought this. The game went on sale in Japan on October 29 this year and was produced by game company Sprite. Below is the opening theme of the game. The theme song is “Initiative” by Mami Kawada.

The following are the girls from which you can “choose” from:

Chisato Sumiyoshi,

Satsuki Shinonomi,

Mifuyu Kiba,

Asara Aomi,

and Michiru Morishita.

Personally, I like Chisato and Michiru ^.^

There’s also a slew of side characters:

Some crazy loli mad scientist.

A cute… dude? I guess gay guys need their fix too.

The guy on the right looks really scary.

The main reason why I got this volume of Dengeki G’s Festival! wasn’t just because Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate was going to be the main theme, but also because I heard it was going to have a bunch of nice illustrations. They finally got to that section at the back of the book.

I liked the illustration of Chisato and Satsuki, but I really wished that they had put in more than just three illustrations. The ones of Michiru are nice too, but they’re a little risqué, hence the link.

The back of the book was surprisingly not Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate related, instead it had an advertisement for a Kirino figure. I don’t think it looks that great, her face is a bit off and she doesn’t give off that flashy aura that she usually has.

Now some of you have probably been wondering “what was in that box?” There are actually preview images on the cover, but now you can see the actual items:

Dengeki G’s Festival! vol. 18 comes with a Michiru microfibre cloth, a Satsuki mouse pad, and a Chisato Dakimakura cover. It figures they’d use the three most popular girls for the bonus items.

I used the Michiru cloth to clean my DS. It works great: wipes off dust and fingerprints, and you get to stare at Michiru in the process.

Even though Satsuki didn’t make my list of favourite characters, I still love this illustration of her. Unforetunately, I’ve been using this mousepad for a few days and it doesn’t seem to want to stay still, I might have to tape it down or something. So while it’s nice to look at, it’s not nice to use.

Up next is the Chisato dakimakura cover. I’m sure you all know what these things are, and if you don’t, a simple search is all you need. Considering their purpose, it’s not surprising to find more revealing images printed on it (which is why these images are hidden as well). If you haven’t seen one of these before, they’re HUGE. I could only fit half of it on my desk.

This is my first time writing about a dakimakura, so I don’t know what to say other than it’s smooth and soft (and no, I don’t have a pillow that’ll fit in that thing)

I was pretty upset at the lack of illustrations, but at least it came with some interesting items which makes this not so bad of a buy. At least now I know what all of the girls’ names are.

Dengeki G’s Magazine 2010-01

The January 2010 issue of Dengeki G’s magazine features Manaka from Love Plus on the cover. I’m sure most of you have probably heard of this wildly popular dating sim on the NDS which allows you to interact and deepen your bond between one of three girls in the game. Apparently it’s so good that a guy in Japan even went ahead and married one of the girls in the game (but not officially/legally). Personally, I’d prefer a real wife, but to each his own.

It looks like each issue of Dengeki G’s is featuring one girl from Marriage Royale. This time the girl is Daiba Minato, whose name comes from Odaiba island and Minato ward which are both in Tokyo, her hometown. I think she looks really nice in that pink coat, and her hat looks so soft and fluffy, plus I like her pink ribbon; a really cute character overall.

Don’t forget that Angel Beats will begin airing this spring ^.^

I thought this page was beautiful, all the Da Capo II characters underneath a Cherry Blossom tree. I still haven’t gotten around to finishing the first Da Capo game.

Tenshin Ranman Happy Go Lucky looks like something that I’d like. The character designs are pretty, and there’s a girl dressed as a miko in there (and I love miko). The opening for the game is also cute, there’s even a little dance in there:

It looks like there’s going to be even more Fate games. Archer looks pretty sweet in that new outfit, too bad Rin didn’t get some new clothes as well.

I wish someone would translate Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni Kizuna into English. Grown up Hanyuu looks really cool, especially with that sword of hers.

Suzunoe Seven ~Rebirth Knot~ seems to focus on a guy attending a magic school where he meets a bunch of girls (which is obvious of any game in here). I don’t really know anything about the game other than that. On the left page is a game called Akatsuki no Amaneka to Aoi Kyojin which will be coming out on the XBOX 360 and PSP this March. I’m not very fond of the artwork, but the game itself is an rpg rather than a visual novel, so it might be fun to try out.

I first found out about Koi to Senkyo to Cholocate from the previous month’s Dengeki G’s, and it looks like it’s back in here again. There was a nice little section about the game and the characters, too bad I can’t read any of it.

Manaka de Iku no is a fandisc by Leaf featuring characters from some of their eroge. It looks pretty interesting, I’m thinking of getting it just for the lol factor. Imagine seeing the To Heart 2 girls fighting monsters RPG style. You can see what the game is like here:

I considered getting that Nanoha figure on the bottom right, but considering I just spent a load of cash on the Nanoha Exceed Mode figure by Alter, I don’t think I’ll be getting any more for a while.

As usual, I got another free Chaos TCG card. Not sure who she is.

On the back of the magazine is an ad for the Higurashi fighting game on the PSP. It looks pretty cool, but unfortunately, I don’t have a PSP to play it with :(

This issue of Dengeki G’s didn’t come with a free figure, but it did have two nice posters.

If you look closely, you might be able to see the difference between these posters and regular posters. These ones are meant to be stuck onto the wall of your shower, I guess that’s why both girls are wearing swimsuits.

Dengeki G’s Magazine 2009-12

The cover of the December 2009 issue of Dengeki G’s Magazine features Kareha and Daisy from the game SHUFFLE Essence+, which I really hope will get translated into English in the future.

If you like SHUFFLE, then you might like reading Marriage Royale too. Although it’s not a game or anime (yet), the characters designs are the same as SHUFFLE. Currently there are 5 volumes of the manga released, all in Japanese though.

Although Kaede is still my favourite character, I think Daisy is pretty cool too.

I’m really looking forward to the Angel Beats anime. I didn’t like Clannad very much, but Kanon and AIR were two of my favourites so I hope Angel Beats turns out like those two. Then again, it could go either way considering all of those titles are from Visual Art’s Key.

I still haven’t gotten around to finishing my first playthrough of Da Capo (I think I’m close though). Hopefully, Da Capo II will be out and translated by the time I finish the first game (which may be a long way away).

I haven’t heard of this game before. It’s called “Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate” or in English as “Love, Election & Chocolate.” Not sure what exactly it’s about, but I like the school uniforms. Having all blue except for the chest area really makes it stand out. The names of the girls from left to right are: Satsuki Shinonome, Michiru Morishita, Isara Aomi, Mifuyu Kiba, and Chisato Simiyoshi. Personally, I like Michiru and Chisato ^.^

I still have no clue what Magus Tale Eternity is, can anyone fill me in?

Final Dragon Chronicle Guilty Requiem is a spinoff game of Leaf’s releases. It contains characters from some of their popular games, but in different settings. Tamaki Kousaka as a knight looks hot!

Did anyone get any of these goods? I tried to get the Yui nendoroid, but it’s sold out :(

I was kinda disappointed with the extra goodie that came with this issue of Dengeki G’s. Although Idolmaster is pretty nice, I haven’t used a pencil case since elementary school, and I don’t plan on using them again any time soon.

It looked kinda small, but the pencil case is big enough to fit pencils (or pens).
