The cover of Megami Magazine Vol. 126 has both Index and Misaka on the cover. At first I thought that Misaka might have been the mini-Misaka that accelerator is taking care of because of her red cheeks and overly happy look. A closer look reveals that she’s wearing shorts under her skirt though, indicating that she’s the railgun.

I guess the K-ON girls have graduated now? It seems there’s always cherry blossoms in these graduation posters. They could’ve added a few more petals blowing across, the dark uniforms and pink background really clash with each other.

It seems someone in Strike Witches is always stealing someone else’s panties, and I haven’t even seen the anime yet.

A nice To Love-Ru poster. Having all of their skirts flip up like that doesn’t seem right though.

All of the Amagami SS posters so far have seemed very plain. I can’t tell whether Megami is doing this on purpose or whether it’s just a coincidence.

I thought this was an amazingly good poster. It shows Nanoha in action against who I assume is Fate. The fireballs and explosions in the background, along with Nanoha’s torn barrier jacket makes it seem like a really tense scene.

This is the same image that was used on the cover of the magazine. I’m not liking how deformed Index’s hand is, or how their faces look a bit off. Don’t even get me started on the choice of background.

I thought Sekirei was supposed to be about girls duking it out, but here we have two of them dressed up as bunnies.

Mitsudomoe seems like one messed up anime if these posters are any indication.

Continuing on with the 3D girl appearances, here’s Rie Tanaka. She is known for roles such as Chii from Chobits, Maria from Hayate no Gotoku, Lacus from Gundam Seed, and Suigintou from Rozen Maiden.

The girls of Milky Holmes are cute, but that wasn’t enough to make me watch the series. Unfortunately, they don’t seem to make good posters either.

This Girls Avenue illustration was done by the artist Nino, aka “2no” (2 is “ni” in Japanese). Nino has some interesting illustrations of girls wearing things like candy and/or futuristic looking devices.

This To Aru Majutsu no Index II poster is a lot better than the one used on the cover. Sometimes I wonder who gets to decide what goes on the cover.

This poster would’ve been perfect if Kazuha’s upskirt shot didn’t look so awkward.

An average looking poster, nothing great or bad to pick out here.

I thought the perspective in this poster is cool, with their legs being smaller because they’re further away. Love how well they drew the uniforms, and the cherry blossoms are a nice touch.

I really really wish that they make a B2 poster out of this Higurashi image. The dresses that they’re in are so pretty and match some cover art I’ve seen for some DVDs.

Unfortunately, rather than a B2 size poster in this volume, all that was included were these two sticker of Nanoha and Fate. Yep, you read right, stickers. These aren’t even worth a few cents, so I’m kinda disappointed in Megami this time.

There were quite a few ecchi posters this time around. I wasn’t too impressed by them, except for 15, which is of Mio from MM! I think she’s an adorable tsundere, and it’s nice to see her cuter side once in a while.

There were lots of yummy posters in this volume of Megami Magazine, and some nice extras too. As always, here’s a look at what posters they have in this volume:

First up is the wise wolf Horo in an enticing pose on the bed. Personally, I think the colour of her ears and tail make her look more like a fox than a wolf.

Not sure what anime this is from.

Saki posters are always nice to look at.

Sora wo Kakeru Shoujo posters are also welcome any time. Having the girls in chinese dresses is a plus.

Canaan looks pretty good, but I still have no clue what’s going on.

I’m sure lolicons would enjoy this anime. It was too “cute” for me.

I like the girl with the leaf bikini, the the one to the right of her is freaking scary.

Princess Lover = harem + fanservice, a combination I’m starting to grow tired of in anime, but it makes for nice posters like this one.

It’s almost as if she’s deliberately showing everyone her panties. Seriously, how many people actually bend over like that to take a drink of water.

What I don’t get about Umi Monogatari is if these people live in the ocean, why do they have feet, wouldn’t it make more sense to have flippers? Anyways, its got nice artwork and I like the character designs ^.^

Anyone with a megane fetish would probably like this poster.

I didn’t think Rika was the type to wear ichigo panties, she’s always so serious.

Poor Zwei, little does he know that the two women that he cares for the most have dumped him for each other.

I like the older version of Mashiro, but the loli version is kinda cute too.

Here’s more loli material in the form of a blue-haired robot.

 I was quiet surprised at how much they decided to expose in this  volume (the Juuden-chan and Spice and Wolf posters), but hey, with the new Nyantype Magazine out they’ve got to step up the service. I guess we’ll be expecting some more skin in the future.

Some of the images for upcoming (or I guess past) DVD releases and newer series were also really nice.

I’d like to see someone cosplay as Plug from Fight! Ippatsu Juuden-chan just to see what they’d look like in that suit.

I still haven’t gotten around to watching Hayate no Gotoku 2. It looks like I’ll have to watch it all in one go like with the first one.

I haven’t seen anything on Kanokon for a while. Chizuru looks the same as always.

Lelouch certainly did manage to obtain an impressive harem.

Girls, magic, and panties; that should sum up Yoku Wakaru Gendai Mahou pretty well.

Needless is the perfect anime for adolescent boys. It’s got cool heroes, some fight scenes, and bouncing boobs galore.

Kara no Kyoukai is another one of those anime that I still haven’t gotten around to watching.

This little plush toy of Horo really creeps me out. Is this even on anyone’s want list?

One of the extras that came in the volume was this K-ON pencil board. Unfortunately mine’s stuck to the magazine and I’m afraid I might rip out some pages if I try to pull it out.

On the other side of the pencil board is the evangelion image from the front cover.

The other extra that I got was this little K-ON booklet. Here’s a little peek at the contents:

I didn’t know the K-ON club had so many releases already. I wonder if any of these CDs are still available.

That’s it for this volume of Megami Magazine. I thought there was a noticeable change in this one compared to previous volumes. The posters seemed more fanservicey than usual, and there was a pencil board AND booklet included with the magazine (it’s usually one or the other). Hopefully there will be even more extras in the future ^.^

I didn’t even know that anyone was planning on making figures of Hanyuu and Rika, but I’m glad someone decided to because I’ve wanted some decent-looking Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni figures for a while.

Out of the two, I think that Hanyuu looks a bit better. There’s a seam at the top of her head, but I just love her pose and her dress just makes her look so cute. Rika looks pretty good too, but there’s just something off with the way her face looks and I don’t really get what she’s doing in that pose (maybe trying to explain something?)

Hanyuu and Rika will be available in September 2009 and I’m definitely preordering them. I’ve never bought any figures by Wave before, so I guess these two will be my first. Has anyone else bought figures by Wave, and if so, what did you think of the quality?

Believe it or not, this took me several hours to finish (mainly because I had no clue where anything was in photoshop).

Well, after practicing using the pen tool on the title, I decided to actually vector an anime character next. Once again, I took another screenshot from the opening of higurashi (this time of Rika):

and here’s the result:

I didn’t really like the flower petals in the original image so I left them out. I also made the colours slightly darker since I was going to use a dark background. The part that gave me the most trouble was the eyes. I didn’t like the way that anime eyes turned out based on the tutorials that I read on anime vectoring so I modified them and came up with my own method of drawing eyes. Basically what I did was put a few layers of colours on top of each other and used the eraser tool with opacity set to 10-20% and erase parts of the top colours to reveal the bottom colours. This way, the colours seem to flow into each other if you know what I mean.

The last wallpaper I made was of Hanyuu, using this screenshot:

Once again, this is what I produced:

Personally, I think I did a better job on Hanyuu than Rika. The only trouble I had with Hanyuu was the really light parts in her hair; it’s really close in colour to her regular hair colour so it was hard to make out where the boundaries between the two colours were.

Anyone is welcome to use these wallpapers, but if you repost them online, I’d appreciate it if a link back here is added along with the wallpapers.

The cover features Emi Kizaki from Linebarrels of Iron. I haven’t watched this anime so I don’t know if it’s any good or not, may consider viewing it in the future. Anyways, here are all the posters that came with this volume:

Clannad seems to find its way into every volume of Megami Magazine. Not that I’m complaining or anything, I like the art and Kyou and Ryou are cute :)

There seems to be a big Kannagi craze right now. I watched the first episode and it didn’t really catch my interest.

Awesome Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni poster, I just wish Rika’s face didn’t look so weird.

The magical girl wand part in Kannagi was pretty funny, but I didn’t think the anime had a very good plotline. Knowing anime, Nagi will end up falling in love with the male character and they will have to overcome some obstacle to stay together.

When I see a poster like this one I just have to wonder how this situation came about. I remember both Ilcocoo and Tabitha were naked at some point in Zero no Tsukaima, but not naked and in aprons >.>

I wonder why Emuemu carries around a tranquilizer gun when she fights robots…

The “ef” series has nice artwork, but I can never get into the story, I always end up falling asleep.

Clannad posters are always good. I loved how Kotomi calculated where the pitcher was going to throw the ball when she was at bat in the first episode of After Story.

I wonder if they’ll explain the purpose of the girl and the robot any time soon.

I’ve never heard of Zettai Shougeki – Platinic Heart, but I see a nurse uniform and police uniform so it’s gotta be somewhat good, right?

When you compare Tanarot to other characters, she looks like some kind of midget, or a really developed little girl.

Looks like some general information on Tora Dora and some character stats. Takasu’s mother looks more like she’s in her 20′s rather than a mother of a teenager.

Kannagi and Kemeko Deluxe with more character stats. I wonder how Emuemu fits inside Kemeko, it’s not physically possible :/

Yozakura Quartet and Macademi Wasshoi. I don’t remember seeing that green-haired girl in Macademi, maybe she’ll show up later.

Strike Witches, I haven’t seen this series, but I have seen lots of screenshots and random images, and I have one question: Does anyone wear pants?

Like the last volume, this one also has some Zero no Tsukaima manga to read.

It looks like rumours of a bonus Code Geass episode were false, but hey, at least C.C. is still around.

There was so much hype over the Lucky Star OVA, but I thought it was just like any other episode of Lucky Star (not saying it was bad, I was just hoping for more). I guess part of the reason why I wasn’t “wowed” by the OVA was because there was so much info released about it beforehand that you were pretty much expecting everything that happened to happen.

Like the last volume, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni was again on the back of the magazine. Unfortunately, this time it comes with bad news. It looks like the release dates for the OVA have been pushed back, so the first dvd will be released on Feb. 25, 2009 rather than Dec. 26, 2008.

I mentioned that I also got a JAST USA catalog with my magazine and here it is. On one side is a list of some dating-sims and eroge (there’s actually quite a number of eroge), and on the other side is a poster of some girls, one of which is naked. It’s amazing how all of her parts have remained covered in this poster.

There was also that JAST card along with the brochure. Now, I think JAST just sells games so I was wondering what kind of trading card they would have, and when I opened the little packet, I found this:

Needless to say, the card kinda took me by surprise. I don’t even know what to do with it now. If anyone is collecting these and wants my card, I’d be happy to mail it anywhere in Canada.

Last but not least is the large poster that comes with every volume of Megami Magazine:

This time the poster is a long, thin one rather than a regular sized poster. On one side is Nagisa from Clannad in her PJs.

On the other side is my favourite clannad character , Kotomi, wearing a pretty white dress. I had been hoping for a Kotomi poster to show up one day and my wish came true, time to make some room on my walls ^.^

I probably won’t be posting anything else for a few days since I have a couple exams to study for this week. If you want to see what’s inside Megami Creators Vol. 13, I’ll probably post some pics on Friday night or Saturday.

I finally got my copy of Megami Magazine Volume 101 earlier this week. The packaging has “Do Not Bend” in big black letters so someone tried to bend it in half; I really hate people like that. One thing about Megami Magazine is that they have what look like fan-made manga inserted between some pages that only stick out halfway from the spine. So when the magazine was bent, all of the regular pages ended up getting these little folds where the manga pages ended. Fortunately the folds weren’t too deep so I was able to straighten out the poster pages. Well, that’s enough rambling about the postal service. I took pictures of all the posters this time, and here they are:

The first poster is of Kagami and Tsukasa from Lucky Star. Personally, I think this poster looks a little bit weird. I think maybe their hair colour is off.

On the other side of the Lucky Star poster is Haruka in a maid uniform ^.^ This one is definitely going up on my wall, no point trying to keep the magazine in good condition when it’s already damaged.

More Zero no Tsukaima in this issue. I wonder why Louise has a towel ready to cover herself when they’re changing behind the tarp.

A nice pic of Birdy from Tetsuwan Birdy Decode. I swear, steam and bath foam has something against us guys.

I’ve only read the first volume of Negima, so I can’t remember any of these girls’ names.

I haven’t seen Ikkitousen, but this poster would be very good advertising for it. Makes me consider taking a look at the anime.

Hidamari Sketch was too loli for me. I prefer girls to be a bit closer to my age or at least look like they’re in they’re teens.

I watched a couple of eps of Koihime Musou, but the plot didn’t really interest me so I dropped it.

A couple pages on Gurren Lagann. I’m guessing it’s talking about the upcoming movie.

There’s quite a few pages on new anime that will be coming out soon. I’m really looking forward to both Clannad After Story and Tora Dora this season. Both of these will actually begin airing this week in Japan. Clannad will air on Oct. 3, and Tora Dora will air on Oct. 1.

Like I said before, there’s these little manga pages inserted in the magazine. Here’s one of Zero no Tsukaima. I wish I knew what they were saying :/

The Lucky Star OVA came out a couple days ago. I’m still waiting for some subs before I watch it.

The Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni OVA (OAV) will be coming out on DVD on Dec. 26, and it’ll be out on Blu-ray on Jan. 23, 2009. I wish the release date was a little bit earlier, Higurashi was one of my favourite anime.

Some info on Penguin Musume and Hidamari Sketch. I would’ve liked it if they had some posters of Sakura Nankyoku, she’s so cool ^.^

At the back of the magazine is some info on adult games. I wonder if people in Japan have a problem with promoting adult material in a magazine that anyone can buy. I also noticed that all of the games were labelled with Win, PS2, PSP, or NDS. I guess the PS3 isn’t very popular even on its home turf.

On the back of the magazine is a lovely picture of Rika and Hanyu in some frilly dresses. I think Rika looks really cute with the cat ears and tail ^.^

There’s also a useful little table at the bottom with the release dates for the Higurashi OVA. It looks like I’ll have to wait until August of next year before the last episode is released :(

And of course, with every issue of Megami Magazine comes a large double-sided poster. This one had Yoko from Gurren Lagann on one side and the girls from Strike Witches on the other.
