10 Shocking and Affective Deaths in Anime

July 25, 2011 By: Nopy Category: Anime

One of the things that I like about anime that is largely absent in western cartoons (or it was when I was a kid), is that it’s not afraid to kill off a character in order to drive the story. Sometimes these deaths make viewers cry, other times they create mobs of angry fans. Either way, they completely draw in the attention and bring out the emotions of any viewer, ensuring the series will always have people to remember it. Here are just 10 deaths which I thought were excellently done and helped make the series. The videos are the closest I could find of the actual scenes.

Note: I think this is obvious, but spoilers are below. If you haven’t seen but intend to see Mai-Hime, Death Note, Evangelion, Madoka, Nadesico, Gurren Lagann, Clannad After Story, Katanagatari, Code Geass, or Kodomo no Jikan and don’t want to be spoiled, don’t scroll down. Also, before anyone asks “where’s Spike?” I have yet to finish Cowboy Bebop.

Penguin Musume Heart ep. 15 & Code Geass Ending

September 28, 2008 By: Nopy Category: Anime, Random Wonderings

Well, I just finished watching ep 15 of Penguin Musume. This episode involved Etorofu hijacking the Nankyoku time machine and going back in time to get rid of an embarrasing event. Of course, with any show that involves time travel there are unwanted consequences. At the end of the episode it appears that Pen-chan (Sakura) is no longer the main character and the anime is now called Shirokuma-ojousama Heart. I guess this is how Shirokuma gets her fortune/company back after going into bankruptcy.

So, after watching this ep, I started to wonder what I would do if I could go back in time to change something. If someone gave me a time machine right now, I would travel back a few years and tell the producers of Code Geass R2 to change the ending ^.^

Schneizel Nukes Toronto, or not

September 14, 2008 By: Nopy Category: Anime

If you have watched episode 23 of Code Geass R2, then you know how dumb the series has gotten. I’m not going to focus on what has gone terribly wrong with the anime since you can probably find more info on other blogs. What I want to look at is the map of the cities that Schneizel plans to use FLEIA on.

At first I didn’t think much of it, he was just targetting some major world cities, one of which appears at first to be Toronto. But when I was looking at the map above, I noticed that the target near the Great Lakes is not where Toronto is. Toronto is located along Lake Ontario (the eastern-most lake for those who don’t know), but the target on that map is north of Lake Ontario and east of Lake Huron. I didn’t know of any cities in that area so I opened up google maps and this is what I found: (more…)
