Touko Amano Nendoroid by GSC

March 06, 2011 By: Nopy Category: Figures

If you’re a regular reader here, you’ll know that I absolutely loved the Bungaku Shoujo OVA and the Bungaku Shoujo movie, so there was no way I could pass up a chance to get this nendoroid of Touko Amano, the title character of the series. Touko is described in the Bungaku Shoujo light novel series as both a beautiful, delicate high school girl, and as a book-eating goblin. In order to capture both aspects of her, GSC has included quite a few accessories, making her box slightly larger than most nendoroids’ boxes.

Bungaku Shoujo

February 14, 2011 By: Nopy Category: Anime

After what seems like forever waiting for Bungaku Shoujo Memoire to come out, I finally got a chance to watch the Bungaku Shoujo (a.k.a. Book/Literature Girl) movie a few weeks ago. The movie brings back all of the characters from Memoire, including Konoha, Touko, and Nanase. One of the things I liked about the movie was that they redid the scene where Konoha meets Touko for the first time and put it at the very beginning.

This was great for anyone who had read the novels but hadn’t seen the Memoire series. Touko was depicted as a beautiful girl sitting under a tree with sparkly things floating around her and everything, then she chomps down on a piece of the book she’s reading, totally ruining Konoha’s initial impression of her. Touko’s real personality shows through soon after when she conscripts Konoha into the literature club.

Bungaku Shoujo Memoire ep. 3

January 25, 2011 By: Nopy Category: Anime

If the first episode of Bungaku Shoujo Memoire tasted sweet like gumdrops and the second episode tasted like bitter spice, then the third episode tasted like Zotz. For anyone who hasn’t tried or heard of Zotz, it’s a sweet and sour candy that fizzes in your mouth. It also describes the main character of this episode perfectly, a sweet innocence matched with a sour personality and ending off with a fizzy tension.

Episode 3 was definitely the funniest part of Bungaku Shoujo. The main character, Kotobuki Nanase, has a major crush on Inoue Konoha, but the problem is that he thinks she despises him. Why would Konoha think that, you ask? Simple, he heard Nanase say so herself.

Bungaku Shoujo Memoire ep. 2

“What is true happiness?”

This is the question that is posed in the second episode of Bungaku Shoujo Memoire. In stark contrast to the bright, colourful world of Touko Amano in the first episode, here we delve into the dark and lonely past of our second heroine, Asakura Miu. Imagine a little girl parents that are constantly fighting and venting their anger on her. In order to escape her life at home, she escapes into the world of novels and even starts telling her own stories at school. However, all of her classmates call her a liar after hearing her stories and she is left alone.

Bungaku Shoujo Memoire ep. 1

August 29, 2010 By: Nopy Category: Anime

Bungaku Shoujo (Literature Girl) was originally a series of light novels written by Mizuki Nomura about a girl that can only eat paper with stories/poem on it, in other words, literature. I remember seeing the Bungaku Shoujo novels and an artbook around in bookstores when I was in Japan so when I heard that there was an anime OVA for it I thought I’d check it out. Bungaku Shoujo Memoire is a 3-part OVA that focuses on the characters Touko Amano, Asakura Miu, and Nanase Kotobuki.
