Continuing on with my catch-up of Megami posts, here is Megami Magazine Vol. 149 (October 2012). An interesting fact I failed to mention in my last post is that I now posess over 1/3 of the Megami Magazines released so far. to put that into perspective, that’s over 4 years of subscriptions and tons of posters. After all of this time I’ve come to accept the fact that the majority of you visit my site from home, therefore I have decided to be a bit more relaxed with what’s censored. There will be more ecchi material shown directly on the page, but the questionable stuff will still be hidden in the links.

Feeling a little ronery tonight as you watch all the couples out there celebrate Valentine’s Day? Well maybe some bishoujo pics will cheer you up. For this week’s Megami Magazine post we have volume 148 (September 2012). This volume features characters from the summer and fall 2012 anime line-up so a few of them will still be familiar. Here we have volume 147 (August 2012) of Megami Magazine. It might be 6 months late, but better late than never. The cover features mahou shoujo Nanoha and Fate from the second Nanoha movie, which was released in theatres last summer. I’m still waiting for it to come out on DVD/Blu-Ray so I can watch it. In case anyone has forgotten how my Megami posts work, anything over a certain ecchi threshold are not shown directly on the page, you’ll have to click on the links to view them. Generally swimsuits and any other clothing you can expect people to wear outside are fine. Provocative poses are maybes and if they need to cover themselves, then you have to click on the link.

The cover of Megami Magazine Vol. 146 (July 2012) features one of the more popular girls of the year, Kuroyukihime from Accel World. All of the series featured in this volume actually ended already so it’s a nice little flashback to what was airing during the summer.

It seems that my issue of Megami Magazine for July might have been lost in the mail, but on the bright side, I have a copy of this month’s Nyantype Magazine. Its been a long time since my last Nyantype post so now’s a good chance to see if anything has changed. The July 2012 issue or volume 32 features Kuroyukihime from Accel World in her butterfly avatar form. The pin-up posters are shown below and as usual, any ecchi content is in the text links.

When I see average characters in anime that suddenly become heroes and gain praise and attention through no effort of their own, I am always reminded of two things: the ending song to Chaos;Head “Super Special” by Seira Kagami, and Shinji Ikari from Neon Genesis Evangelion. There always seems to be more “average” heroes in anime (characters that are indecisive, emotional, self-conscious, and don’t do anything) and fewer traditional or “real” heroes such as Spike from Cowboy Bebop and Kenshin from Rurouni Kenshin. Are average characters really preferred by anime fans, or are real heroes making a comeback?

With the second Nanoha movie soon to hit Japanese theatres this summer, the series has once again taken over Megami Magazine. The cover features Nanoha and Fate in their A’s movie outfits. Of course, they also took up a number of pages inside the magazine, but I won’t be covering those. If you happen to be in Japan this summer, you can check out the movie starting on July 14.

Moving on, the pin-up posters in this volume were pretty good, as you can see below. Note that anything ecchi can only be viewed by clicking on the text links.

Today we’ll cover the 144th volume of Megami Magazine for May 2012. The cover is of Saki – episode of side A. I’m surprised they didn’t go with a prettier anime, but I’m sure Saki fans would enjoy this. Unlike the last volume, quality seems to have improved this time, though the ecchi level has remained high. So as usual, in order to keep this site over-the-shoulder-peeking friendly, ecchi images can only be viewed by clicking on the text links.

Now that all of the new anime for the spring season have aired, it’s time for my seasonal round-up of the best and worst. To those of you new to my seasonal posts, I preview every new anime (excluding some sequels and spin-offs) and share my thoughts on them. I also indicate which series I thought were worth continuing and which weren’t. At the end I pick three anime – the best of the season, the worst of the season, and the most under-rated. Naturally, my opinions are all heavily biased.

Accel World

I would’ve watched this series for Kuroyukihime alone. She’s pretty and looks cool in her black dress and butterfly wings. The world that the anime is set in has me interested too, who wouldn’t want to be able to connect to the internet using their brain? The story follows a typical shounen plot, but that’s OK.
