After waiting for 5 years, I finally received this yesterday:

No, not Tako Luka (though I had to wait quite a while for her too), but what she’s holding, my Iron Ring. Those of you that follow me on twitter may recall me mentioning wearing a suit and attending some events, well it was all to get this ring.

If you haven’t heard of the Iron Ring before, to put it in a nutshell, it’s a ring that Canadian engineers wear to remind them of their obligation to only perform work they are capable of doing, uphold the reputation and respect of their profession, and place public safety above all else. There’s a bunch of other things that it also signifies, but I’m not going to go into them in detail, you can google them if you’re interested. Some people say the idea of the ring came about when a bridge under construction in Quebec collapsed and killed nearly everyone working on it, but idea for the ring actually came up before that. Every engineering student in the country is told of this tragedy as a reminder of what could happen if they neglect their responsibilities.

Getting the ring wasn’t all too exciting, some lady mumbled something which I couldn’t hear and put the ring on my finger, then shook my hand and that was it. Most of the day was spent standing/sitting around waiting for stuff to happen or listening to people talk. So basically I spent an entire Saturday getting this ring and am currently short on time. I have a lot of projects and other deadlines coming up so that means I won’t be able to blog much in the next few weeks (maybe 1 or 2 posts a week). It looks like reviews of my new nendoroids, magazines, and anime reviews will have to wait until I get a break from all this work. You guys can expect things here to pick up again around mid-April and thank you for continuing to read my blog ^.^

Some of you may have noticed a lack of posts recently and perhaps wondered what happened to me. Well, if you’re a regular reader of my blog, you’ll remember that a few months ago I moved to a different city to work at a temporary job as part of my university degree. The good news is that I will be returning home in a couple weeks and will have more time to write posts. The bad news is that between now and then I have some major reports to finish and a big presentation to give so I won’t have much time for blogging.

After Christmas though, you guys can expect a bunch of figure reviews as I’ll be going through everything that I received at home while I was away

This is my first post since moving to this new city. It took me a while to unpack, get an internet connection, and basically settle in, but things are pretty comfortable now. My new room feels a bit empty without any of my posters, figures, or manga collection. Fortunately I did bring one figure with me, Taiga by Max Factory.

Since this will be my last night in my hometown sleeping in my own room (at least until New Years), I thought it was about time to take one last good look at everything.

First off is my desk. This is where I’ve spent countless hours watching anime, browsing forums, watching anime, playing games, and of course watching more anime. Long-time readers of dannychoo.com may recognize this desk as I’ve posted it on the “your desk” and “your room” sections before. If you go take a look at them now, you can see a slow but steady accumulation of anime goodies ^.^
