Nopy's Blog

It’s time to get your hard-on because Nopy’s Blog has grown up! After nearly 5 years blogging about anime, figures, magazines, and everything related, I’ve come to a realization: Nopy’s Blog was just like every other anime-themed blog out there. With web traffic steady declining, I had to do something in order to keep up the site’s popularity, but what? After looking at old traffic data to see what people were interested in, the answer finally hit me: hentai. There are more anime blogs out there than anyone can count, but how many hentai blogs do you know of? Considering the number of people that stumbled onto Nopy’s Blog searching for hentai, there’s definitely a demand for it. So without further ado, I present to you Nopy’s Hentai Blog.

What will I be doing on Nopy’s Hentai Blog, you ask? For the most part, everything will be the same as it was on Nopy’s Blog: I will still be writing reviews, posting pictures, and analyzing the finer details of things. The difference is that instead of focusing on anime, figures, and magazines, I’ll be focusing on hentai, onaholes, and Japanese adult videos (JAVs). To give you an idea of what’s to come, below is a preview of some posts that will be going up in the coming weeks.

After a lengthy time away from the blogging world, I am happy to announce that I will be returning to regular blogging this week. As I had mentioned in previous posts, I’ve been working on applications to several schools these past few months. In the end, considering the costs of going to a high-ranked American school, it just wouldn’t be worthwhile for me so I have decided to accept an offer from the University of Toronto. I visited Toronto and saw the campus last month; there’s definitely a cultural difference between the prairies and Toronto so that’ll take a little getting used to. Going back to school after working for a few years may also take some adjustment. On the other hand, I don’t think it’ll take me long to get used to the warmer climate over there. No blizzards or snow on the ground by mid-November? That sounds awesome.

Anyways, since I have a lot to catch up on, I actually don’t know where to start. If you’d like to see a certain type of post first (ie: anime, magazine, figure, etc.), just let me know.

It has been nearly two months since I put my blog on hold so I guess it’s time for an update.

The Blog

In my absence, traffic to Nopy’s Blog has dropped significantly. This past week has averaged 600 visitors per day, about half of what it was before. It will likely drop more before I can return to blogging regularly again, but I’m just glad that people like you are still visiting and leaving comments :)

My time away has reminded me of why I blog; there aren’t many people I can talk about anime with in real life, either I don’t see them enough or we watch different shows. I will likely be able to get back to blogging in the new year. In the meantime, you can check out all of the awesome blogs listed under the links section.

As some of you may remember, I am getting ready to send in some applications for school. Unfortunately, that means that I will need to spend a lot of time writing and perfecting my application essays, and contacting references. As such, I will need to take a break from the internet and blogging for a while. I don’t know how long I’ll be gone, it could be 3 weeks, it could be 3 months; it all depends on how much time I end up spending on my applications and how many schools I apply to. A few posts may pop up now and then on slow weekends, but don’t expect replies to comments any time soon.

I will still be around on Twitter and you can reach me through email if you really want to talk to me. For now, Nopy’s Blog is going into hibernation. Hopefully I will have some good news when I return.

Well here we are, exactly 4 years after I decided to start blogging and opened an account on WordPress. For something that was supposed to be a way for me to pass time until the end of Summer, this blog has vastly out-lived its planned life expectancy.

Nopy Returns Triumphant!

As most of you already know, I’ve been spending the last few weeks preparing for the GMAT which is why I’ve been absent for a while. Last night, I dreamt that I was preparing to do battle with a dark and powerful enemy. This morning, I ate Shanghai Noodles to keep my stamina up, and after a 4-hour long battle, I defeated the GMAT.

I scored in the 96th percentile so I don’t have to worry about that part of my application anymore. Once I get everything else done, I’ll be able to get back to blogging.

Some of you may have noticed a lack of posts in the last 2 weeks; that has been due to some decision-making in the real world. If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you might remember when I talked about trying to get into graduate studies. Unfortunately, the program that I wanted to get in to is only really available in foreign (mainly American) schools, making it harder for me to get in because I have no connection to them, no money, and my GRE scores were only slightly above the entrance averages for top-tier schools. Getting those rejection letters hurt :(

I do not believe a single post-secondary degree is enough to get you through life comfortably though, especially considering half of people my age have one or are in the process of getting one. Thus, I have decided to apply for an MBA program and work at the same time. I will just barely meet the minimum work experience required to apply, but I’ll send in my application anyway in the hope that they don’t reject me for lack of experience. This means I will also have to write the GMAT within the next month to meet the application deadline. In order to make time to study, I will be taking a breather from my blogging activities. I will still be making posts, but instead of 2-3 every week it’ll be around 1 every week, and I will still be leaving comments throughout the aniblogosphere, but less frequently. Things will return to normal sometime in April.

Many companies submit reports summarizing their activities throughout the year, so I figured why couldn’t a blog do the same? I am finally back from my trip to Asia (a total of 5 countries and 2 special administrative regions). It looks like autopilot mode didn’t work so well because I didn’t have enough time to write anything before I left. While my trip was fun and enjoyable, there are two things that I have come to appreciate about my part of the world: clean air and no smoking laws.

In some of the cities I went to, it felt like I was suffocating, and going indoors didn’t help because everyone smokes. The air back home is fresh and clean, so I’ve gotten used to it and thought most of the world was like this except for factory cities. While watching a sunrise in Macau, I was dismayed at how uninspiring it looked. The sunrises I’m used to usually start with the sky looking like its been set ablaze with red, pink, and orange colours before a brilliant light appears over the Earth and turns the sky blue. In Macau, there was not a single cloud in the sky, but I did not see the sun “rise”. Instead, a faint red circle appeared within a thick line of blackness over the horizon and the sky turned grey. It took a relatively long time for the sun to become a blinding light and not just a red circle in the sky.

I was also shocked to see people of all backgrounds smoking. Although there are laws here that make it illegal to smoke in public spaces or within 5 metres of an entranceway, I don’t think it would be a major problem if those laws were not in place. From my experience, smoking is largely contained to the older generations and people in the lower rungs of the socio-economic ladder.

Now that I’m home, I can breathe easy. I have about 4 weeks of anime to catch up on since I didn’t watch anything the week before I left. Since I don’t want any spoilers, I won’t be reading any episodic reviews until I’ve caught up with everything. If anyone has recommendations on what to watch this season, I’d be happy to hear them.

By the time you read this, I will be time travel…er flying over the Pacific Ocean. For the next few weeks I’ll be in different parts of Asia and I don’t know how often I’ll have internet access, so I’m switching the blog to autopilot. Any posts that appear here in the next 3 weeks would have been written in the wee hours of the night/morning before I left. Comments will be kept on, but I probably won’t be able to respond to them (or emails for that matter) until I get back.

Since the new anime season just started, I’ll be looking forward to reading everyone’s impressions of all the new series when I return. Until then, see you all later.
