Nopy’s Top 10 Anime Girls of 2010

December 31, 2010 By: Nopy Category: Anime

It’s the end of the year and while everyone is ranking their favourite anime, I thought I’d do something different: rank my favourite girls. All of these girls appeared in anime that aired in 2010. The only thing that they have in common is that I liked them, so it can be due to anything from their cuteness factor to their personalities. So without further ado, here is my ranking of the top 10 anime girls of 2010:

10. Yukina Sonogi (Senkou no Night Raid)

Senkou no Night Raid wasn’t a very popular series, and I actually dropped it, but I still like the main female lead, Yukina Sonogi. She’s pretty, calm, collected, and she looks great in a chinese dress.

9. Panty Anarchy (Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt)

Next is Panty from the controversial series Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt. A lot of people seem to diss her for being a slut and she even calls herself a bitch, but it’s that screw you attitude of hers that I like. With the moe boom that’s still going on, you start to get tired of girls that do nothing but act cute and helpless.

8. Sora Kasugano (Yosuga no Sora)

She’s pretty, ’nuff said.

7. Ayase Aragaki (Ore no Imouto ga Konnani Kawaii Wake ga Nai)

I was disappointed in the lack of yandere characters this year. Ayase doesn’t stand up to the Higurashi girls or Kaede from SHUFFLE, but she’s still cool. I loved her reaction when Kyousuke “revealed” his relationship with Kirino. As a side note: Ayase is way more fashionable than Kirino.

6. Kuroko Shirai (Toaru Kagaku no Railgun/Toaru Majutsu no Index II)

Kuroko is another character that I like for her personality. Most of the time she acts silly and tries to rape her “onee-sama”, but when things get serious, you can count on her for getting the job done. She also seems to have a bit of that screw you attitude when she fights, but it’s not as extreme as Panty, usually keeping her head cool.

5. Nadeko Sengoku (Bakemonogatari)

She’s cute and I loved her opening song in Bakemonogatari.

4. Yui (Angel Beats!)

I like anime girls with pink hair, but I also like characters that are wild and eccentric. Yui is all of these, but her going away scene in Angel Beats also made me want to cry, so that pushed her up the list to number 4. She also has a tail, plays the guitar, and sings ^.^

3. Mio Isurugi (MM!)

At first glance, Mio looks like an innocent little girl, but deep down she’s actually a crazy sadistic monster. Further down however, she actually is a sweet girl that wants to help people overcome their problems.

2. Erika Sendou (Fortune Arterial: Akai Yakusoku)

Erika looks like your typical blondie, but she’s very intelligent, excels at sports, and is the vice president of the student council. Did I also mention that she’s a vampire? It’s like throwing in a hint of coolness to an already perfect character.

1. Chise Umenomori (Mayoi Neko Overrun!)

In the number 1 spot is Chise from Mayoi Neko Overrun! I thought she was the most adorable character of the year. All of Peko’s character designs are cute, but Chise just looked so much better than the other characters. She has an outgoing personality, but has trouble expressing herself due to being secluded from everyone during most of her life. Chise’s determination to finally make some friends, her crazy antics, and her cute character designs made her stand out among all of the other characters of the year. (My answer: All of the above)

So there you have my top 10 picks of the year. I’d be interested to see what other people thought, either by leaving a comment or writing a similar post. Maybe someone should write a top 10 guys of 2010 post?

  1. Ah cool we share some favorites
I actually didnt gave that so much thought, so here are just ten characters I liked this year without ranking ;D

Yukine and Yui you already pointed out what made them special very well.
Chise – imo the best part of Neko Overrun, she’s petite, spoiled and is overly confident on the outside, her emotional scene was so heartwarming.
Kuroko Shirai – Well I liked her weird personality and her petite body.
Oh and her old lady voice is so cool.

Amano Tooko from Bungaku Shoujo – she’s such a kind person with a cute, lively and freaky side.
Carina Verritti from Shukufuku no Campanella – she acted ladylike, looked very pretty and showed a cute way of being jealous torwards other girls.
Togame from Katanagatari – I liked her tough side as well as her girly side.
Tainaka Ritsu from K-On! – she actually was a very cool and funny character.
In general tomboish characters are not my cup of tea, but I liked Ritsu a lot.
Celty from Durara – her behavior was funny and cute, she fights violent Gangs but at the same time she is scared from Horror Movies XD
Yui Kotegawa/Nana Astar from Motte Love Ru I can’t decide who I like more. They both have a nice tsundere personality ;D

  2. Interesting list I can’t say much since for the most part I did not watch the same shows.

I do agree with Panty, and aggressive girl in an anime who gets what she wants is pretty cool.

Ayase was surprising didn’t expect the Yandere vibes from her. Although if I had to choose a girl from the show I would pick Saori or Kuroneko.

  4. @Fabienne:
I thought about including Tooko and Togame too, but in the end they weren’t in the top 10.

Saori was probably the most mature character in that series, but I didn’t find there was anything I really liked about her.

  5. It’s so awesome to see Ayase, Kuroko, and Yui-nyan~ make the list. They’re lovely!!

  6. @Yi:
I’m glad you agree with some of them.

  7. *cough* Misaka D:
    …..and hitagi!
Nooo…well that shows i like tsundere lol

partially agree with the list. XD
funny now i realise that erika can be compared to Kirino
Eriko= beautiful blond, intelligent, excel in sports but is a vampire.
Kirino = beautiful blond, inteligent, excel in sports but is a otaku… orz
    haha weird..

  8. @Fabrice:
Call me weird, but I don’t really like Misaka, she’s too tomboyish to me. I had considered putting Hitagi on the list, but in the end I liked the girls I chose better.

Vampires > otaku, hehe. It’s stated that Kirino is smart and athletic, but she didn’t feel that way to me, that’s why she didn’t make it onto my list.

  9. You know what would be a real challenge, top 10 anime dudes of 2010.

Yui was great fun in Angel Beats. It was a shame she had to leave so soon. Well at least she missed the terrible ending, so that’s a plus.

Kuroko is cool, not my first choice from Toaru Majutsu no Index. I really like her voice actor Arai Satomi though. I believe she also voices Peke from To-Love Ru and her role in Okamisan as narrator was great to listen to.
BioToxic recently posted..Da Capo 2 – Adult Visual Novel

  10. @BioToxic:
Haha, yes, that would be a challenge. I think I’d need to ask some female anime viewers for their inpu.
I like Satomi’s voice too, and the characters she plays are hilarious.
