What Would You Like To See on Nopy’s Blog?

August 10, 2010 By: Nopy Category: Random Wonderings

Since my blog reached its 2nd anniversary recently, I thought I’d take a look back at what I’ve accomplished. While I was happy with how much its grown, I was a bit disappointed in myself for neglecting it from late May until now. In the past ten weeks I’ve made 10 blog posts, but some of them were more like announcements rather than actual posts. Looking back on my first three months of blogging, I averaged 15 posts per month and covered three main categories: anime, figures, and magazines. Anime posts kinda dropped to the wayside shortly after Toradora simply because I couldn’t find a series as awesome to talk about and most of my recent posts have been going to FG. Figure and magazine posts held up for a while but posting frequency started dwindling as time passed.

Now I’ve decided to bring my blog back to life and hopefully get back to those 15 posts per month. The problem is that there’s so much stuff I can write about that I didn’t know where to start, so I decided to take a look at what people have been searching for on my blog and here are the top 3 results:

I have to admit I was pretty surprised at these results. To those 8547 people who were searching for hentai, I’m sorry to disappoint, but there is none on this blog. “Hikikomori” is understandable because of a previous blog post I made, but the only Queen’s Blade I have here are a few shots of Megami Magazine and Nyantype Magazine posters. The first time the word “anime” appears is 12th on the ranking, but the actual search term used was “anime+hentai”. Sadly, figures and nendoroids don’t even make the top 20, with the 20th item being “anime+girls+no+clothes”.

Based on the above information, it seems a lot of visitors come here searching for hentai or ecchi material. If that’s what people want, then I could post about all the Megami and Nyantype magazines that have been piling up plus some extra stuff, but I’ve decided to ask you guys, my readers, for your opinion. To me, it’s you guys, who actually read what I write, that are most important to me, not some random people looking for naughty pics. So I’d like to ask: what would you like to see more of or updated more frequently on my blog? Traditionally, I’ve written about anime, figures, and magazines, but if you browse through the archives, you’ll find I’ve dabbled a bit into other things like artbooks, games, manga, and even my personal life. I’m looking forward to hearing any thoughts you might have.

  1. More posts D: Or at least, more frequently.

And lol, I get funny search terms too. Someone searched about ‘sex demon queen episode 5′, whatever the hell that was.

  2. @Valence:
Lol, that is a weird search term.

  3. I was just about to post the same thing about feedback and stuff since I just added Get Satisfaction to my site last weekend. ^^

I guess I’d like to see more figure and anime reviews. And more photos/drawings too. ^^

  4. It’d be great to read more of anime or figure reviews ^^;;
I actually like the “screenshot” series you had some time ago. That’s something quite different.

  5. @Xine & flyzice:
Ok, more anime and figure reviews noted.

The screenshot series didn’t seem to attract many readers which is why I stopped, but if enough people are interested, I could start it up again.

  6. First time commenter, but I’ve been following your blog for a while now, so… hello!

I… actually don’t mind what you review. I was initially led here when searching for more information about anime magazines. I find your reviews on them very informative, especially since you take money out of your wallet in order to review so many different types! I also like your figure reviews, and man, do you have a lot of figures! (Still hoping to be able to own a “higher-end” figure myself.)

tldr; I would be happy with just more reviews. xD

  7. @Ari:
Hi, it’s always nice to hear from some of the less vocal readers of my blog.
Thanks for the input, I’ll try to get some more reviews up in the coming weeks.

  8. I’ve just now come across your blog (and I mean JUST now), so I haven’t really read much of it, but I’m a big fan of anime blogs (I’ve even got my own *points to link in name*), so I’d recommend writing about anime. And write about the kind you like, the kind you get a lot out of. If people are looking for hentai on here and you don’t like it, don’t write about it: they can find it somewhere else. Keep up your own standards.

  9. @Wolfsbane:
Thanks for the advice. While hentai does seem to attract some people, it’s not something I want to write about.

  10. Hmm, I say just write about what you want to (yeah kinda doesn’t answer the question does it :D ) and whenever you want. If you start writing for others it becomes a chore and you’ll slowly begin to get fed up.

I suppose the question to ask yourself is do you want to write for us, or for yourself. And since I come here to find out what you’ve been up to, as opposed to what I want you to be up to, there’s my answer :D.

I also take any traffic stats with a pinch of slat. With the amount of crap floating around the web those numbers can never be accurate.

  11. Lol hentai XD
Dont aim how much you want to write, just go along day by day and when when something comes up, post it =) no matter how many you write a day. but sometimes quality is better than quantity in which im sure you know ^^
Mhmm so far your blog is doing great, i like the way it is and that is why im subcribed to your blog.

  12. @BioToxic:
I guess if I do try to cater to other people, I’ll start to get fed up with blogging. I’ll keep that in mind.

I was thinking of trying to do more posts but not sacrifice quality. Hopefully I can manage that, but if not, I’m not going to post for the sake of posting.

  13. I’d like more posts…but not naughty random hentai picture posts, I don’t know why people would search for that in your blog lawl

It’s kind of hard to tell you what to write, because it’s up to the blogger to decide. Personally I’d like anime and figure reviews, your latest hobby stuff you’re interested in, etc. My favorite posts are the ones where you post the Megami and Nyantype magazines (I don’t see many blogs that do that), but that’s just me xD

  14. Hmm… I think I almost miss out this post. Let’s see… when I first got to know about Nopy’s Blog… It’s the content of magazines which you shared. A Japanese illiterate like me, buying those is out of the question. However, I like to browse and unfortunately, the magazines are always sealed. So, your blog really provides a good source for the pleasure of our eyes I supposed :) I guess that kept me coming back. I hope that helps as feedback. Cheers!

  15. lol i learned/kinda learned japanese a few years ago during summer school, but i forgot most of what i “learned” I am relearning it though. Learning it so I won’t be so hopeless when/if I go to japan next summer.

by the way, how can you tell what people searched on your site?

  16. @Kate:
I’m going to try to get rid of this backlog of magazines, so you’ll be seeing a lot of them soon.

I think they’re sealed to keep people from stealing the free inserts inside.

You can install wordpress plugins that keep track of what people do on your site. I use one called “statpress”, but you can find others if you just google it.

  17. Magazines is one thing I see here that I don’t see much elsewhere, so it’d be great if you continue to make those posts. Anime and figure reviews are always nice too.
Anyways, search engine terms can get some really funky data.

  18. @Yi:
It looks like magazines are pretty high on the list now.
