I would not should not could not, pick an ultimate anime. I love a lot of anime, have a lot of favorites, but I don't want to shoot many of them down picking such. However, I haven't seen Nadesico (but I keep seeing a book at the local card shop when I go, and wonder to myself if you have it). I will definitely give it a watch though as I've been meaning too. Maybe I'll give the first episode a watch tonight :3

@KBX:
It was a long time ago and I can't remember the name of the site so I'm not sure if the translations can still be found. I do have the ROM for Nadesico and several boot discs lying around, so if you ever find anyone with a Japanese DC willing to translate it, I could send you what you need.

That Ruri nendo petit looks awesome, now I need to hunt down that magazine.

@Nopy:
Really?? :D I've scoured the Internets both present and past (through archives) and never found something like that!.. The closest thing is this video I made which combines the cut scenes inside the game along with some very rough translations http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mgwchGe46sI

If you can send me the URL of the site with the translations, or anything similar, it would be very much appreciated!! It's the last piece of the Nadesico puzzle..

Still, despite heavily developing the plot post POD, the DC game ends on a To Be Continued Cillfhanger, with Ruri barely defeating the Crimson Corporation and the MS Successors, and then rushing off to a familiar signal near Earth..

According to my research, both legal troubles with XEBEC and an internal disagreement between team members concerning the plot, caused the sequel to be shelved, despite Tatsuo Sato having spent almost two years developing a sequel series. Ads and Propaganda were pretty much ready to start flowing, and even a CD called Gekinade Zenbu #2 reunited the characters to talk about the much hyped sequel.

I am not quite sure about how much the Japanese liked BO3Years or PrinceOfDarkness, but both video games were bestsellers (with the Mission getting its own Promo version Dreamcast), POD winning the Animage Grand Prix and countless magazines doing specials to keep the public up to date with all the details of the intertwining periods.

Though there has always been a constant flow of Ruri figures and paraphernalia in to the market. They've recently released a long awaited toy Black Sarena, the POD mechs and even a new Yurika (after all these years).

I've also heard from a contact that the release of a Ruri Nendoroid along with an issue of Anime Style Vol 4 could be a market test for future Nadesico related stuff..http://nendonesia.com/2011/06/nendoroid-petit-hoshino-ruri-to-be-bundled-with-anime-style-vol-4/

Concerning the noise we fans can make, well.. The Japanese have been at it for over a decade, the show's practically a cult hit over there, and despite endless fan fiction, sites, Fan made Resin kits (the only way to get the ships in model form), SRW appearances, etc, they haven't had much success. Every time Sato gives an interview he seems to get at least one Nadesico related question, and he always seems to get sad or emotional.

Though you're right, extra noise never hurts! :D

@KBX:
I remember there being an online translation of most of the lines in the DC game, but that was ages ago and the site's probably gone by now. Maybe if fans like us make enough noise, they'll eventually make a second season.

I'm glad to know that there are people who also love this anime, it is a truly excellent and unique piece of art among countless mecha shows, with several strong, emotional messages behind its actually dense plot.

When I saw your avatar and your site banner with Ruri on it, I just couldn't contain myself from posting..

Its a shame how they left it without an ending. But still, every time I see a new piece of merchandise (be it of Ruri or any other character) it raises my hopes up for a sequel.

It has been one of my life projects to recollect every possible piece of information about The Blank Of Three Years and the period of time after POD (the DC game The Mission), here http://forums.animesuki.com/showthread.php?t=2268&page=6 , with a varying degree of success.

Thank you for promoting and giving some much deserved love to Nadesico.
