I’m Back!
This is my first post since moving to this new city. It took me a while to unpack, get an internet connection, and basically settle in, but things are pretty comfortable now. My new room feels a bit empty without any of my posters, figures, or manga collection. Fortunately I did bring one figure with me, Taiga by Max Factory.
Taiga has been on my desk right by my keyboard ever since I got her so having her around really helped me settle in. The sad thing about this place is that I’ve been here for over a week and there’s absolutely no sign of anime subculture here. Neither the local university or local college have an anime club (well, the university used to have one), the only anime store to have opened in the city was closed down years ago by the government (for renting anime), and I have yet to even find a comic book store. The closest anime convention is also 570km away, it’s as if anime never existed here.
The lack of anything anime wouldn’t be so bad if it weren’t for the fact that there’s really nothing to see or do here. This city is surrounded by farmland, so except for some parks, there’s really no scenery. The city’s biggest malls are so small that you can walk around them in 10 minutes, so shoppng isn’t really that great here either. To me it seems like the only entertainment the locals get is during a football game; I have no clue what else they do in their spare time (though using the f-word as an adjective seems to help the locals pass the time as it makes their sentences so much longer). I really wish Christmas would get here sooner, then I wouldn’t have to stay here any longer.
Well, that’s enough rambling for now. Since I’m all settled in, I should be able to get back to making some posts. I have a bunch of stuff I wanted to write about but didn’t have enough time because of this new temporary job and moving out, hope you guys look forward to it.
