Schneizel Nukes Toronto, or not

September 14, 2008 By: Nopy Category: Anime

If you have watched episode 23 of Code Geass R2, then you know how dumb the series has gotten. I’m not going to focus on what has gone terribly wrong with the anime since you can probably find more info on other blogs. What I want to look at is the map of the cities that Schneizel plans to use FLEIA on.

At first I didn’t think much of it, he was just targetting some major world cities, one of which appears at first to be Toronto. But when I was looking at the map above, I noticed that the target near the Great Lakes is not where Toronto is. Toronto is located along Lake Ontario (the eastern-most lake for those who don’t know), but the target on that map is north of Lake Ontario and east of Lake Huron. I didn’t know of any cities in that area so I opened up google maps and this is what I found: (more…)

Bleach

September 14, 2008 By: Nopy Category: Anime

I’m sure if you’re an anime fan, you have heard of Bleach, and maybe even spent some time watching it. I remember when Bleach first came out, it looked so promising; there were swords, big blasts of energy, and all the cool-looking enemies (ie: the captains of the 13 squads). I remember watching the series up to about 10 episodes after they recued Rukia from Soul Society, then it all went downhill. Everyone somehow seemed weaker than they were before and there didn’t really seem to be much plot left. At that point I stopped watching the show, but recently I picked it up again since one of my friends said it got better.

That was a total mistake. (more…)

Morning Jogging

September 10, 2008 By: Nopy Category: Random Wonderings

Wow, it’s been nearly a week since I made my last post. Classes started last week so my life has been pretty hectic getting school supplies, lining up for textbooks, and figuring out what my professors are talking about. One of the good things about being back in school now is that not all of my days begin at 8am. That leaves a couple hours in the morning to go for a jog, and with fall just starting, the weather is nice and cool so you don’t get too sweaty and it’s not so cold that you start shivering.

Pale Cocoon

September 04, 2008 By: Nopy Category: Anime

I’ve just finished watching Pale Cocoon for the 4th time in a row and I’m still amazed at how good it is. Pale Cocoon is a short 23 minute OVA directed by Yasuhiro Yoshiura in 2006.

The anime takes place in a post-apocalyptic world where everyone lives in these man-made layers covering the surface of the planet. The main character, a guy named Ura, works in the Archive Extration Department, which was formed to restore ancient corrupt files from before human history was forgotten. Although Ura is obsessed with his work and seeing what life was like in the past, the rest of the department has actually quit their work because they’ve seen how miserable human history is and don’t believe any good would come from restoring any more information. Eventually Ura and a girl named Riko are the only ones left in the department, and the only reason Riko is sticking around is because of her feelings for Ura. Unfortunately, Ura is so obsessed with his work that he just drifts further away from Riko, and with the discovery of a video file (which is a rare find in the department) Ura just seems to forget about Riko.

Train Station Girls

September 02, 2008 By: Nopy Category: Random Wonderings

I’ve been taking the train a lot recently (several months now), and as such I see a lot of people. During all this time I’ve seen pretty much all the types of people you would expect at a station, such as: the young intellectual reading his/her book (usually on learning a new language), the teenager with their ipod turned up so loud that everyone can hear, the guy with the headphones dancing near the edge of the platform, the cute girl sitting on the bench, the businessman standing and looking at his watch every few seconds, the single mom trying to keep her children under control, the drunk that trips over his own feet, the couple smooching in the corner, and of course all the regular people just sitting/standing around.

Konomi Yuzuhara

September 02, 2008 By: Nopy Category: Figures

Ok, here is the last figure from my figure splurge, Konomi Yuzuhara from To Heart 2. Konomi is now the cutest non-nendoroid figure that I own and poses in a pink swimsuit for everyone to admire :)

Taiga Aisaka

September 01, 2008 By: Nopy Category: Figures

To tell you the truth, I got this figure because of the cat. Wanting to buy this figure was also the reason I bought all the other figures that I got last week. One item in the shopping cart just lead to the next and before I knew it I had ordered six figures. That just goes to show how persuasive a cat can be…

Before getting this figure, I didn’t know anything about Tora Dora, which is the manga that Taiga Aisaka is from. I read the first volume a few days ago though, and it has some potential. Will be looking forward to the anime version that will be airing this fall.

Tsukino Azusagawa

September 01, 2008 By: Nopy Category: Figures

Yakitate Japan isn’t one of those anime with much ecchi material, so I guess that’s why Alter decided to make a figure of Tsukino in a swimsuit ^.^
