I was too tired to post this last night, but today (Aug. 31, 2008) is Miku Hatsune’s 1st birthday (Happy Birthday, Miku!) ^.^
One year ago today, Vocaloid was released in Japan and Miku was born. To celebrate, I found a couple videos on youtube:
Zero no Tsukaima isn’t exactly one of my favourite anime, but I like tsundere characters like Louise which is why I got this figure.
School Rumble is one of my favourite anime and Eri is one of my favourite characters, so that’s why I bought this figure. I especially like the bikini she’s wearing and her body was sculpted fairly decently.
Ok, I said I would post some pictures of the new figures I got, so here’s the first set. I decided to open my figures by biggest box first and so I’m going to post pictures in that order too. First up is Meifeng Liu; as many other owners of this figure have pointed out, taking off and putting on her clothes is a real pain (that sounds kinda dirty). It took me about an hour to take off her clothes to get the plastic underneath out. I’m not a photographer so don’t expect good pictures, but here’s the first set:
This week I got all the figures that I ordered at the beginning of the month. As you can see, I bought 6 in total. I know that doesn’t sound like much to some people, but I’ve collected 9 figures in 1 year, so getting 6 in a couple weeks is a lot for me.
Yesterday I received some Sailormoon cards along with an album set that I bought off Ebay. The item description only mentioned the album set and 38 cards from the Graffiti series, but as you can see from the picture above, the seller was kind enough to give me some extra cards from the Pull Pack series :)
I just found out about this plushie which is going to be released in September. For those Lucky Star fans who don’t know what this is, shame on you :P It’s the cat that always appears in the middle of Lucky Star episodes for commercial breaks. I took this image from www.animate-shop.jp which is selling it for 2500 yen (~$25). Unfortunately, I can’t read Japanese and I don’t think they ship overseas. So , if anyone knows where I can get one I’ll give you an e-cookie for the info ^.^
I was really bored today so I decided to take out my dreamcast and play Ikaruga. For those of you who don’t know, Ikaruga is a shooting game with two opposing types of energies: red/black and blue/white. You pilot a ship that can switch between the two, so when the ship is red/black the shields will absorb all the bullets and lasers of that colour and fire red/black bullets, and the same for blue/white. That doesn’t sound too hard right, just turn red/black to avoid red/black bullets and blue/white to avoid blue/white bullets. Well, when you’re playing the game it’s a whole different story, and to get a good rating you have to make combos by destroying 3 enemies of the same colour in a row. I’ve had this game for several years now and the furthest I’ve gotten is the beginning of the 4th chapter out of a total of 5. The difficulty comes when the whole screen is just covered in enemy fire of different energies and you’re trying to switch back and forth between them. I always lose track of which colour I am and get hit by a bullet. Well, if anyone has any tips on how to complete this game, let me know :)

I went to the bookstore today to pick up Mamotte Shugogetten vol. 2 ^.^ This volume was actually released on Aug. 5, but the bookstore didn’t get it in until today. The store only has 2 bookshelves for manga and since Mamotte Shugogetten is twice as thick as regular manga, it wasn’t hard to find. When I went to checkout though, the guy at the counter gave me a funny look. I guess the reason for that was because of the cover of the book. I thought that a cute girl in a red dress wouldn’t make it look like I was buying a pinkish-violet book but people probably wouldn’t pay that much attention to what’s drawn on the cover, just the overall colour of it. But anyways, if you’re a fan of light comedy and magic, then you should definately read this series. It’s about a guy named Tasuke who comes into possession of a ring called the shitenrin, which is actually the home of Shugogetten Shaorin (aka Shao), a goddess whose duty is to protect her master. Some hilarious events ensue, including the arrival of another goddess and Tasuke’s school getting demolished XD. I haven’t read the second volume yet, but here’s the summary on the back cover:
I’m currently watching Penguin Musume Heart (Penguin Girl), which is an anime about a girl called Nankyoku Sakura (a.k.a. Pengiun or Pen-chan) and all the weird things that happen around her. There really isn’t any plot so far, but it does have some of the silly things we’ve come to expect from anime, including: the muscle man butler, the battle maid, the tomboy, the lesbian martial arts girl (reminds me of card captor sakura), girls with exploding clothes (see below), maid cafes, miko (shrine maidens), and of course the all-important panty shots.
